Hi guys, Josh Bowmar here!

I think I finally nailed down my scrape-making process this past fall. I had absolute hammers hitting my scrapes. Today I thought I would share this process with you guys.

I LOVE putting out scrapes – especially in August and September. A lot of people don’t think  deer will hit scrapes that early, but they do! I recorded this whole process on my Bowmar Bowhunting Instagram page here. I post a lot of other big buck killing tips on my YouTube channel.

Step 1: Locate a major trail

I start off by finding a major trail. The trail I found in my video runs right through the center of the farm. The deer were traveling up and down it constantly.

Step 2: Find a tree – preferably white oak

Next, I found a white oak tree. I dumped some Hodag Licking scent on the limb. I prefer to use the AllSeason Scent. I’ve been using the Hodag Licking Stick AllSeason Scent for a couple years now and it honestly works great. We’re not sponsored or anything, I just thought I would share a good product when I see it.

Step 3: Make the scrape under the limb

Lastly, I made a scrape under the limb that I dumped the scent on. Don’t overcomplicate this. I just roughened up the ground with my foot. I show this in my video as well.

I have found that this process works really well for me, while being very simple and easy. After I made this scrape, I got a video of a couple hammers hitting it – I would say  it works!

Give this a try this upcoming summer and fall and let me know what you think!
