Hi guys! Josh Bowmar from Bowmar Bowhunting here!

Today, I am going to give you TWO tips on how to make your strutter decoy look more real in the woods. Turkey season is in full swing here in Iowa and most surrounding states, so I will be sharing some of my best turkey hunting tips.

I have been turkey hunting for several years, and these decoy tips absolutely changed the turkey hunting game for me. Turkey hunting is not easy, and these little tips have brought me a lot of success in the turkey woods!

Tip 1: Attach a real turkey fan to your tom decoy

When I purchase a decoy, the first thing I do is to take off the fan it comes with, and attach a real turkey fan to it. If you haven’t killed a turkey yet, you can actually buy these online.

Tip 2: Super glue turkey skin and feathers to the back of the decoy

Most of you probably haven’t heard this tip before! Again, I do this to every one of my decoys. I will take some turkey skin and feathers, and super glue it to the back of the decoy, right behind the fan. This will make your turkey decoy so much more real. I made a video showing exactly how to do this on my TikTok – follow me @bowmarbowhunting!

I cannot emphasize enough how much success we have gotten from this tiny tip. When it’s windy, the turkey feathers will flutter and blow in the wind. It looks so much better and more real. This is a HUGE tip!

I am always looking for ways to improve my decoys and make them look as real as possible.

I wish all of my fellow turkey hunters the best of luck this season!
